Start date: 2013
End date: 2016
Project Categories:
Training of trainers
Capacity building
Description:
Training of a group of selected shopstewards to be union trainers; they are trained in knowledge and skills.
Developing a policy for future training for members.
Goals:
Establishing a permanent pool of trainers and a union policy on training for members
Activities:
Training in knowledge (national legislation on education, education finances, innovation in education, pensions, social security, union rights, union structures and culture, decision making etc) and skills (communication, presentation, leading discussions, trainers' skills)
Results:
The future trainers have done about 80% of the programme and have had their first training experiences in schools. The unions have negotiated a permanent leave from school for one day a week for the trainers to enable them to travel to schools in the country to inform and educate members. There is however some obstruction by school directors to accept the union training sessions into their schools or to make it possible that members attend the sessions.
